Unjha is a city in Mehsana district in the Indian state of Gujarat. Unjha is famous for UMIYA MAATA TEMPLE that is located in the center of the city where thousands of visitors visit everyday. It is about 1200 years old but it was rebuilt around a century ago with the aid of the people living here.

Annamalaiyar Temple is a noted Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at the bottom of the Annamalai hill in Thiruvannamalai town in Tamilnadu. The earliest known record of the temple is in the works of the poet Nakkirar of the third Tamil Sangam period. This dates the temple’s origins back at least 2000 years.

Ajanta Caves

The Ajanta Caves in Maharashtra, India are 31 rock-cut cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BC. The caves include paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of both Buddhist religious art as well as frescos which are reminiscent of the Sigiriya paintings in Sri Lanka. The caves were built in two phases starting around 200 BC, with the second group of caves built around 600 AD.

Adalaj Stepwell is a unique Hindu ‘water building’ in the village of Adalaj, close to Ahmedabad. The stepwell was built in 1499 by Muslim king Mohammed Begda. The step well or ‘Vav’, as it is called in Gujarati, is intricately carved and is five stories in depth.

The pillars are all differently carved and no two pillars are the same.
